Mazda’s unexpected smash-hit roadster of the nineties
Its excellent handling combined with the friendly lines of its body make this vehicle appear ageless. And, as a matter of fact, this Mazda caused quite a sensation on Europe's roads after its much-noticed unveiling. The daring pallet of bold solid tone colours including an intense melon yellow clearly attests to the intention of coming out from under the bushel. The roadster created a full-on hype when it was introduced in Europe at the beginning of the 1990s. The Mazda MX5 made the pleasure of driving a roadster affordable - and shaped the path for its renaissance. An increasing number of manufacturers started making their own compact, low-cost convertibles. Recognising the large demand for the MX5 in Germany, WIKING added the model that was first launched on the market. The first generation still had “hidden headlamps”, so-called pop-up headlamps, which came standard in the models of this sporty recreational vehicle from Japan that were made between 1989 and 1998.
Body melon yellow, interior with dashboard as well as chassis and floor panel black. Wheel rims silver. Inserted red transparent tail lights. Auxiliary headlamps and Mazda logo imprinted silver.
